Gift Card Worthy

Gift Cards always seem so impersonal, yet practical. Sometimes you just really don't know what to get someone or don't have the time to shop! Here's how to make a gift card a sweeter gift than a lazy gift.

1. Get a gift card to a store that the receiver truly enjoys going. Noticed his/her love for books and movies? Try Barnes & Noble. Show that you took a notice in their interests. Avoid the american express amount cards or general mall cards. Just give money if you're going that route.

2. Wrap it up pretty. Make the card unwrapping a little sweeter. Avoid the typical envelope. Try a clutch or small purse, add a bow and handmade tag, or place in small box and use fun wrapping paper.

3. Add a Bonus. Giving a Starbucks card? Buy a big, fun mug to go along with it, add a great book, or ipad. Hey, sky's the limit.

Here are a few of my gift card favorites: Victoria's Secret, Sephora, Barnes & Noble, and Paper Source. You can't go wrong with these fun stores!

More gift ideas!

We love hearing from our readers, so don't hesitate to ask what you would like to see more of or less of. One of our awesome blog readers asked for more gift ideas, so here you go!

For the girly girl:

Two makeup steps I can never forget are applying mascara and lipgloss. Even if you're not a makeup person, these two steps can instantly brighten up your face. Sephora has this great Bare Minerals set for $15. Any girl would appreciate it. Really any girl would appreciate anything from Bare Escentuals/Minerals.

For the girl on the go and kind of a klutz, ;) there is the Miss Oops holiday survival kit for $18. Comes with a rescue sponge, lint roller, and mishap tape. All can be sold separately and there are other products available: Show stoppers (don't want to wear a bra, but not look cold?) and Pedicure in a bottle (no more rough feet) to name a couple more.

Love to tan but hate the salon price or having to go naked in front of the airbrush tanner? This lil gem will do wonders for you. Salon Bronze's Airbrush Tanner  ($13) gives you that great bronze look at your own privacy. Be sure to read the instructions and reviews for tips to ensure an even tan and non messy session.

e.l.f stands for eyes, lips, and face. I'm so intrigued about the products on the site. e.l.f. has amazing starter kits, makeup kits, and every tool needed to get ready at cheap prices! This smokey eye kit costs $5!

For the guy's guy:

Take him back to the 60's and treat him with the old fashioned candy box ($30): candy cigarettes, candy buttons, good & plenty, jawbreakers, wax lips and tons more! Perfect for those sugar addicts. Or make your own version. Find a cute box and fill it up with his favorite candies.

Is he a Lakers fan? He'll love this LA tee ($24) by founder Lakers player, Lamar Odom. Not a lakers fan? Rich Soil also has some other great tees. And cute ladies' tees to match ;)

Flannels are in and seem to look good on any guy. They can be worn buttoned up or open with a plain white tee underneath, dressed up or casual of course, and best of all are comfortable. Tilly's is having a great sale for flannels, 2 for $40

Know a thrill seeker? Cloud 9 Living is an awesome site that provides all kinds of services in different regions around the world. Definitely some bucket list items! Services include: Military Flight Simulator , Champagne Brunch Cruise, Corvette Thrill Ride, Bungee Jumping, Private Guitar Lesson, Kayak Tour, and Race Car Driving to name a few!
