Wedding Loves

Posted by Erica Espana

As you know I work for a Wedding Coordinator and I'm constantly oooing and ahhhing over wedding blogs. The creativity, joy, and personal details are all so delightful. I cannot wait till the day where I can help plan someone's wedding and of course my own... Here are some decor items that have stored a place in my heart. They will find a way in my wedding that's for sure ;)

The hanging floral is super chic yet has the boho feel I love. Combined with a mason jar, the trio makes me swoon. Oh, my mason jar collection is growing quite nicely too. It's as start! The next photos are Papel Picado banners. They are Mexican paper cut art. I would love to bring a little of my culture into the design element as well. Don't worry plenty of Mexican food and margaritas will be present. I love how you can custom create the single leafs with your names and wedding date.  Last but not least is the bakers twine. I'm a big fan of stripes and zig zags and to see it incorporated with string is so simple and fun! Great for wrapping up stationary, packages, favors, etc. Especially love the mason jar lid striped fabric wrapped up with the twine. I'm noticing a theme!

delightful!

delightful!

Sources: {unknown} I'm usually good with this, but I'm always pulling photos into my inspiration folder from random wedding blogs & sometimes forget to name.

Help Save Japan's Dolphins
www.takepart.com

"The Cove exposes the slaughter of more than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises off the coast of Japan every year, and how their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan and other parts of Asia, often labeled as whale meat. The majority of the world is not aware this is happening.  The focus of the Social Action Campaign for The Cove is to create worldwide awareness of this annual practice as well as the dangers of eating seafood contaminated with mercury and to pressure those in power to put an end to the slaughter." -takepart.com

My Quest Begins: Calligraphy

Posted by Erica Espana

calligraphyThis weekend I decided to begin my quest to learn how to do calligraphy. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, "Calligraphy is a type of visual art and often called the art of fancy lettering" (Wikipedia, 2010).

As you may know, I work in the wedding planning industry and always looking to expand my knowledge in the different fields. I've always loved to write and constantly receive compliments on my handwriting, so I've decided Calligraphy is something I should try and hopefully perfect.  I prefer handwritten notes instead of the computer. I'm always the one offering to write down the directions or fill out a form. Call me crazy, but I love writing. I even have that bump on my right index finger... Sooo, I bought a starter kit and sample pens to learn the basics. Boy, let me tell you there's a lot to learn! It is hard work. I want to learn the terminology and have a little practice before I take an actual calligraphy class. I'm hoping Paper Source will have one soon! So far none offered in February & March :(

If you have any words of wisdom, please do share (kits? books? Advice?) Thanks! I will keep you updated on this adventure of mine. To be continued...

A little update

Hey Everyone!

Thanks to everyone for the support during this difficult time of recovery. As many of you know I was involved in a serious car accident and I am unable to walk do to the surgery on my broken hip. I have started  physical therapy and really hope to be back to normal by late January early February. Due to the high dosage of medications I am unable to do accurate posts on our blog. So until I return Erica has graciously  offered to do the posts and keep up the blog. Again Thank You to everyone for the support!  I do apologize for being away, but promise to return with a bang! New fashion tips, trends and outbreaking designers all coming in 2010!
Stay Tuned....

A Luxxe Drink

Rosetta Love

Going to work in Los Angeles can be hectic. Known for its infamous traffic, one day I can be super early to work or barely making it on time. Traffic in LA is pretty random so I like to leave an hour early and spend some time at a nearby lounge where coffee and a reading spot are accessible.

Usually I hit Starbucks, but I found this new spot called Caffe Luxxe, a quiet little place where if you drive by you will surely miss it. So, I ordered a prosciutto sandwich and their most popular drink: A cappuccino with a rosetta. The rosetta is the milk foam art, usually the barista's "signature". Check out their website for other designs. Mine was a heart. Too precious! Though, this happiness does come at a price. Sadly, these visits will be kept at a minimum.

Know any lounge spots that I would like?? Please let me know!

My Gorgeous Day

Posted by Erica Espana

Everything about Saturday, October 24th was top notch gorgeous that I had to share it with you all. If you don't know, I assist for a wedding planner and Saturday was wedding day! My boss, Cassandra, is really great to work with and learn from. It started out with a beautiful drive to Santa Monica at 10am to meet with the bridal party at the Viceroy Hotel. The outside does not describe the inside. The inside was luxurious with modern, sophisticated furniture, chic decor, and moments away from Santa Monica's best tourist attractions: the beach, third street promenade, and the pier. Even the restroom was a sight to see. Check out some photos I took:

I was at the Viceroy till 2pm helping out with the party's needs and making sure they left the hotel in time to get to their Malibu venue. The couple was gorgeous and great to work with. The bride had impeccable style and beauty. The location is a private mansion up in the Malibu hills, where the owners rent out throughout the year for events. It is simply amazing in every aspect that little decor was needed. A very romantic place indeed. Besides the set up decor and location, the best part of the wedding was the groom and his 3 friends surprising the bride with a quirky, fun love song. Perfect, right? My day ended at 11pm and couldn't have been more gorgeous. Here are some photos from the ceremony:

Pink October

Posted by Erica Espana

breast cancer ribbonAs you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I'm loving all the support I'm seeing. From twitter users sporting pink ribbons and tweeting #beatcancer (Every time it is tweeted, EBay & Miller/Coors will donate $.01 cent to cancer research), NFL teams sporting pink gear, companies donating a portion of their proceeds, walks for the cure, to specialized products made to raise awareness.

Support & Look Hot!

Support & Look Hot!

When I saw that ShoeDazzle was featuring a Limited Edition Breast Cancer Awareness Shoe I really had to have it. If you don't already know about ShoeDazzle, it's a shoe membership line by Kim Kardashian. Where you take a fashion questionnaire and based on your choices, you receive different choices every month. If you see a shoe you like, you purchase your choice for the month (always $39.00) and if you don't feel like purchasing a pair that month you can "skip that month". It's really a genius idea, especially for shoe lovers and penny-wise shoppers like myself. When you purchase the hot pink sexy Stephanie pump, 10% of your purchase benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure! A win-win situation.

"1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Early detection is the key to surviving this disease" (ShoeDazzle/Susan G.Komen).
